The Submariner reference 16800 is a transitional Rolex of sorts that is highly sought-after by collectors in-the-know. The case is full of character with a black aluminum unidirectional bezel with serrated edges, holes on the lugs, and Superluminova. The case is outfitted with a sapphire crystal and a waterproof screw-down crown for resistance to depths of up to 300 meters, making it an excellent utility watch for divers. Reference 16800 was also the first Sub in the series to offer both of those features and is an important part of Rolex history. An equally durable Oyster bracelet with three-piece links and a folding Oysterlock clasp accompanies the case for a handsome fit wherever your adventures take you.

Watch was in condition as pictured and described. Some major dents and scuffs on the bracelet/end-link were hidden well by the lighting but were very noticeable in person. Overall the watch was in great shape for the age.

I’ve bought multiple modern pieces from Bob’s and had a great experience every time. I’ve been looking to buy a birth year Rolex for awhile now and for me, that’s a late production run 16800. Couldn’t be happier with the watch and for those out there looking for a Sub, you should seriously consider the 16800. It has some great “modern” features, but holds true to a more vintage feel and elegance. Incredibly comfortable on the wrist and will undoubtedly continue to grow in value in my opinion. It’s a can’t miss buy all the way around.
