This Rolex watch is in overall great, honest vintage condition consistent with age. The case was probably lightly polished, but remains thick and the bevels are still visible. The case has scratches and some nicks along the edges. The numbers are clearly visible between the lugs with some rub marks from the bracelet. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the insert has been well preserved over the years with some light wear. The bezel has faded to a dark, charcoal grey that can be hard to notice depending on the light. The pip in the bezel is a later replacement. The dial is in excellent condition with light patina. The lume in the hands and on the dial have aged to a matching buttery yellow color. The hands have developed patina. The C&I USA bracelet is in very good condition with some wear and scratches, more noticeably on the six o'clock side. The bracelet has some stretch which is normal for these of the rivet style. The clasp has scratches and a slight indentation. The clasp is dated 1976 which is a couple years earlier than the case production and makes sense.

The Rolex 1680 is one of the most sought-after vintage watches on the market. It hails from the legendary Submariner collection, complete with a waterproof case, 60-minute diver's bezel, and self-winding movement. The 1680 also holds a special place in Rolex history as the first Submariner to feature a date mechanism on the dial. Rolex initially made the 1680 with a single line of red text on the dial and would later move to all white text like the example we have here. These "White" 1680s have gained popularity and good ones are becoming harder and harder to find.
This example is in overall great condition and has a great vintage look to it. From the nicely aged charcoal colored bezel to the matching yellow lume color - this thing checks all the boxes. If you are in the market for a clean "White" 1680 with character, this is worth considering.
