The Rolex Explorer is one of the brand's most enduring models, featuring a timeless design set not too unlike what debuted with the model in the 1950s. Of course, reference 214270 also includes countless modernized upgrades. Still, the design blueprint from the original model remains in the form of 3/6/9 Arabic numerals on the dial, time-only complication, self-winding movement, waterproof Oyster case, and all-steel finish. The Rolex 214270 is an interesting edition of the series, featuring what many refer to as a "Mark II" dial. When the 39mm Explorer hit the market, the hands on the dial remained unchanged. With the release of the Mark II dial, the hands were elongated slightly, and the Arabic numerals were upgraded from silver to filled with lume.
