Before the Cosmograph Daytona was powered by the in-house cal. 4130 Perpetual movement, it relied on the outsourced Zenith "El Primero" movement. Also known as the cal. 4030, it was produced by Zenith and modified by Rolex to beat at a rate of 28,800 bph and remove the date aperture. Now that this movement has been discontinued, Rolex watches that utilize it have become coveted collector's items.
