Rolex announced the all-steel Rolex Daytona ref. 116520 in 2000, replacing its predecessor the "El Primero" reference 16520 and introducing the line to the first in-house calibre 4130 Daytona movement. Stainless steel variations with Rolex-made movement such as this particular used Rolex are typically in short supply, a fact that some collectors can attribute to the lower selling price that often accompanies steel models. The logic behind that argument is that precious metal references come with a higher profit margin and can better cover the costs of producing the sophisticated movements that are within each watch. I just received my Daytona. Its a dream come true. I am a big race fan and have watched many accomplished drivers receive their Daytona on the podium. I will never get that chance but a guy can dream. Its my 60th this year and so I treated myself. I gave it to my wife to give back to me for my birthday. Win Win. The watch is in great shape with the box, hang tags and manuals. Since this is my first Rolex there was no way to get a brand new one (two year wait fro repeat customers) so I started looking. Bob's had a very fair price and offered me the watch I wanted in the condition I required with all the Rolex packaging. I shopped around and Bob's was the best.
