This Rolex watch is in overall great vintage condition. The case has been polished and has some scratches and wear. The caseback has a few marks on it from being opened. The service bezel is in good condition with some wear/ scratches between 10 and 20. The dial, hands, bezel, date wheel, and bracelet are later service replacements. The dial and hands are in excellent condition and still glow because of the Luminova luminescent material. The bracelet is in great condition with some wear and light stretch between the links.

Sea-Dwellers in general are some of the rarest vintage Rolex sports models out there. Rolex introduced the celebrated model in 1967 and they still make it today. The Sea-Dweller was developed for use by professional deep-sea saturation divers, particularly with its inclusion of a "Helium Escape Valve" or "HEV" on the 9 o'clock side of the case to help the watch survive decompression from dry, pressurized environments. The earliest Sea-Dweller examples had red printing and are called "Single Red" or "Double Red" due to the one or two-lines of red text on the dial. Rolex stopped using Red text on the Sea-Dwellers around 1978 and moved to all white text. The example we have here today was born with a "Great White" dial that was eventually changed to a later service replacement. It was very common for Rolex to change and update watches when they come in for routine service and that is exactly what happened to this one. These Sea-Dwellers with matte service dials are also not very common and pretty neat to see.
This example is in overall great condition and would be an ideal vintage Sea-Dweller to wear and enjoy. Since the watch has a later service dial and hands that use Luminova as the luminescent material, they still glow at night giving this vintage watch some modern comforts.
